The best packing lists for Morocco

A typical Morocco trip strings together medina, the Atlas mountains and the desert, which is three temperature worlds within a few hours of driving. Sahara nights drop into single figures even after a hot day, and the High Atlas holds snow from December to March.

Good to know for Morocco

June to August gets very hot inland, while the Atlantic coast stays cooler and windier thanks to the Canary current. In winter many riads are unheated or barely heated, so a warm sweater for indoors is no mistake.

The dirham is a closed currency that you essentially obtain once you arrive, and souks, taxis and small restaurants want cash. Outlets suit the European round plug and the supply is 220 volts. Drinking from the tap is not the local habit.

Most mosques are not open to non-Muslims, and in medinas and villages covered shoulders with long trousers or skirts make for a calmer day.
